Money From Your Expertise
Every day you see offers all around you. You look on your Facebook timeline or your Instagram, and someone is trying to sell you something. You can't go anywhere on the internet without ads following you.
Why do you think you see so many of those ads and offers?
Because they work.
Because the people telling you about it are making money. And every time you see a new shiny object or thing, you think that's going to be the answer for you.
Here's the truth…
The real way to make money is to join those people sending you those offers and start making your own products and offers yourself. And before you think that's complicated, let me tell you here and now it's as easy as sitting down to read this post, to make the decision to start and start creating something similar yourself.
That does not mean you go out and copy or plagiarize what other people have done. It simply means you need to come up with your own angle or twist on something, or simply to share knowledge that you've already got.
So instead of running around looking for some magic bullet, or hidden loophole, be the person who creates that magic. Don't think for one minute that you need to spend weeks, months or years putting in your time or learning all kinds of tricks and techniques before you too can start earning big bucks.
All you need to do is to set up a simple system and then stick to it. Stop running around chasing every new shiny thing and be the person who offers shiny things with substance.
How do you provide that substance?
By putting value first. Be the person who gives people what they really want. Go above and beyond in delivering that thing they really want and then serve them with even more of what they really want.
Do that and you will never be short of money again. Even better, you'll be able to create money literally out of nothing except your time and your ideas.
Where Do You Start?
How can you provide that value?
Everyone has so much more knowledge and experience than they think. The most common excuse is that you have nothing to teach or offer through a digital product. To that, my answer is always the same:
Rubbish.
There is bound to be something that you can teach others that will add value to their lives and solve their problems.
What you need to do is take the time to think about the knowledge and experience that you already have. Think about the knowledge you have acquired from education as well as in your career, your work and life experience and your passions and hobbies.
Most people's problems come into the categories of what are known as the big three niches:
· Health
· Wealth
· Relationships
They are known as the three big niches, or rather markets, because they are evergreen earners. Within each of these there are endless sub-niches within which people are always seeking solutions.
Now, every human being on the planet knows something about each of these big niches simply through their own experience. Your experience or expertise will help you niche down so you target an area which is of interest to a particular group of people, also known as a sub-niche.
Think about the Health super niche for a second. Within that, you have people who want to lose weight and get fitter so they can be healthier. You don’t need me to tell you that there are endless diets and fitness regimes out there designed to do just that.
The reason there are so many solutions is that there is no one answer to a particular person’s problem. Many people who diet and lose weight tend to put the weight back on again because they have not fundamentally changed their lifestyle or addressed the core issues that led to that weight gain in the first place.
If you have successfully lost weight and managed to keep it off, then you have something to teach those people. You can tell them what worked for you and how you went about it. You can also share your secrets that enable you to keep that weight off even if they are as simple as a walk every day and a diet that focuses on wholegrains and vegetables along with good protein.
That may sound simplistic, and you may think this market is saturated but what if you then add the fact that you are a busy, single mom into the mix? And that you provide quick and easy recipes within your product or program for people just like you.
All of a sudden, you are laser targeting people who have a real need for help and who will want your solution because they feel that you understand them. After all, you are just like them. And people tend to know, like and trust people who are similar to them except they have managed to solve a pressing problem for which they are still seeking the answer.
Provide that answer and you will have an endless stream of customers for life.
Overcoming Imposter Syndrome
Still thinking that you need a pile of certificates and degrees before you can even think of helping others with your own products and programs?
Not so.
If you feel that you don’t have enough knowledge in a particular sphere to really add value for others, then you can go and acquire that knowledge. You can read the books, take the courses and then you can add your own insights and experience of the results you got once you put it all into action.
Voila!
You have a unique report, course or program to offer that your customers cannot get anywhere else. Not only that, but it’s also one that solves a problem for them, so you are automatically adding value to their lives.
What could be better than that?
Go As Big As You Like
It is entirely up to you how far you want to go. You can start with a simple report or eBook that you turn into a PDF. You can add on videos and charge more.
You can then extend that solution into areas such as coaching, consulting and more advanced programs so that you build a tribe of loyal customers eager for your next offering, who will buy everything you put out there and thank you for it.
That, in a nutshell, is how you can succeed online without scamming anyone, offering shiny solutions that simply don't work or feeling that you've sold your soul for a quick buck
The real joy of sharing your skills or knowledge is that you are in turn, enabling your customers to acquire those skills for themselves. Which means that they, too, are empowered. They don't, for example, need to rely on some push button software that will break after a few weeks or that they can never get to work. And nor do you, ever again.
Instead, they can rely on themselves to transform their lives and solve their own problems, as you are doing now by reading this.
That’s the other key thing: Transformation.
Look around you and you will see that everybody you know wants to transform their lives in one area or another.
It is rare to find a completely contented person. By helping them to carry out that transformation, you and they will benefit in so many ways and you will start earning a great income while helping people solve a problem they’ve been struggling with.
Let’s Get To It
Start right now by grabbing a pen and a piece of paper. Yes, do it the old-fashioned way. The hand-brain connection created when you write things down using pen and paper is scientifically proven to help your creativity flow.
Start by writing down problems you have solved in your own life.
- What skills do you have?
- What work experience do you have?
Then make another list of your friends, family, and colleagues, noting down the problems they are trying to solve right now or for which they have not even found solutions yet.
Compare the two lists. What knowledge do you already have that could help your friends, family and colleagues solve their problems right now? If you don't have that knowledge, where can you acquire that knowledge?
Now think beyond your friends and family to problems that are universal problems such as debt, broken relationships, ill health, lack of confidence, poor mental health and anything else you can think of to add to the list.
Extend that to problems such as issues with pets, dogs who need training to stop barking or pulling, for example. Believe me, if you have a dog like that then you will do almost anything to solve the problem because it impacts you ever single time you try to take that dog for a walk.
Don't try to reinvent the wheel. Don't try and get fancy or complicated. Simply think about the everyday problems we all face and that have the biggest detrimental effect on our lives and especially our quality of life in all kinds of ways.
Go back to your first list. What knowledge and experience do you have that can help people solve these problems? What really stands out to you as your area or areas of expertise or experience?
Now choose one problem that you can solve, or help to solve, that will truly transform someone's life for the better.
Next, write down all the things you would suggest to help someone solve that problem. Write those down as bullet points.
Now take each point in turn and expand on that point to give the actual steps that you would advise someone to take in each instance.
Imagine that you're simply sitting with a friend, helping them with that same problem.
What would you say?
How would you say it?
Write it all down. And there you go. You have the basis of a report or eBook, something you can sell, and that people will want as well as need. In giving them what they need, you are providing a great, ethical service for them as well as potentially making an excellent income for yourself.
How To Stand Out
If you follow these guidelines, you will be providing a unique solution and your product will stand out from everything else. It is unique because it's your solution; one on which you have put your stamp of expertise and experience.
While you might think that people will only buy one solution for a problem, that simply is not true. As you probably know from your own experience, people run around, trying and buying all kinds of solutions until they find the one that fits for them.
The one that really works for them.
Just aim to be that person; the one who really helps and when you do that, you will also be able to create money from nothing any time you like.
You only need your laptop, a little bit of time and to believe in yourself and what you have to offer. You don’t even have to spend weeks or months on this. You can create an excellent report or eBook in as little as a day and keep refining it as I already suggested.
It doesn’t have to be lengthy or complicated either. Remember that people want a fast solution. Speed is of the essence these days which means you don't need to create a 200-page guide, has endless modules and multiple videos, and a gazillion worksheets. It needs to be short and easy to work through.
All you need to do is to provide a clear, simple solution that they can use to give them that transformation as fast as possible while providing tremendous value. And remember, value is all about perception.
So, if you create a simple report and sell it for, shall we say $17, and within that report, you provide a quick solution that works for your customer, they will feel as if they have received value.
If, however, you sell that same PDF for $497, they're not going to feel as if they received as much value. Sure, your PDF might be the highest quality PDF in the entire world, but it is still, after all, only a short PDF.
If, on the other hand, you sell your initial PDF for $17 and you then create a complete course which includes videos, worksheets, perhaps community in the form of a Facebook group and email support, then your customer is going to feel as if they've received good value for their $497. And this is something you can add later.
While value is all about transformation, it's equally as much about perception. Create value in the mind of your customer and, again, they will keep coming back for more and more value.
Value you have created out of nothing more than your mind, heart and knowledge to benefit other people.
Value for which you will be richly rewarded in so many ways.
